About Me

What is my background?Faye_on_own_bigger[1]

I have over 10 years experience teaching psychology to teenagers. I have worked at four different schools in the UK, both in the independent and state sector. I also deliver mindfulness workshops to teenagers.

Would you like me to speak at an event?

I have talked on a wide range of topics to professionals, parents and community groups. I use my practical experience of parenting and teaching to make my talks enjoyable and accessible. You can contact me at fayecarlisle at gmail dot com.

Why did I start this blog?

There are so many different opinions and controversies regarding parenting and educating children, which I wanted to address.

Many parenting books offer conflicting advice.  At one extreme there are attachment parenting books, which suggest that parents should carry their baby around at all times and co-sleep. At the other extreme, there are books telling parents to get their baby into a routine straight away.

My blog aims to empower parents to make their own decisions armed with some understanding of the research on parenting issues.

Just what I need. Parenting is really a battle sometimes and a self discipline lesson for me too. Thanks for sharing.

Like you I know a lot about, what I know, but as I begin to join this vast sphere, I am daunted.

I only started blogging about a month ago so I don’t know that much. I have joined twitter and the bloghop ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ hosted by Michelle Twin Mother on Britmums. I have been told I should publish each blog three times on twitter so more people can see it. I have also added a follow me on twitter badge to my blog page.

I haven’t got round to really marketing my blog yet but thanks for the advice. I am not really sure how I would make revenue by adding books to my site. Can you tell me more?

You can sign up to amazon affiliate program and you will help amazon promote their books related to your blog. They will give you commission on any purchase from your blog. Firstly are you on wordpress.com or .org? If you are on .com, you will have to move it to .org because you are not allow to advertise on wordpress.com . Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need further information. Cheers.

Just stumbled across your blog. I’m a soon to be first-time mum with a background in biology, feeling increasingly overwhelmed by contradicting advice and studies. It’s great to hear the thoughts of someone who’s already made the effort to do some digging of their own, and has experience of their own to add. PLEASE keep writing! 🙂

Thanks for your comments Lala. I have been concentrating on finish my book ‘Psychology for Parents’ rather than writing my blog. However, I probably should add some extra topics to my blog soon.

I just happened to stumble across your site. As a teacher and parent I’m sure I will find lots of useful information. I am always interested in the psychological and sociological issues of today and how they are impacting how we raise our children. I liked your page to follow through facebook. Looking forward to what I can learn.

Hi. I found your profile at Author Marketing club which I’ve just recently joined, but I would like to ask you how to properly advertise my ebooks?

There are lots of ways to market your ebook. You can promote your ebook on various websites when it is free or on offer. You can get followers on twitter and promote your book to them. You can have an author page on Facebook and get people to like your page and build a following that way. You can also have a Facebook ad. Google pay per click ads are good if you have a budget. If you Follow #IndieAp on twitter, you can join this Indie collective and get advice from other Indie authors. I have a self-publishing blog and also a blog https://psychologymum.wordpress.com, which I post articles to Facebook and twitter from. You can also advertise your book locally. Get bookmarks made up with your book details and give them to local libraries. Please see my other posts for more information.
